Delayed or Cancelled Flight – How to Claim Compensation?
The frustration that arises when your flight is delayed or, even worse, cancelled is often enormous.
Delays are part of everyday life for most airlines, but most passengers do not know how to claim compensation or find it too time-consuming and complicated to do so.
Send your case to us at info@vajper.com and we will take care of your compensation claim. We do all the work and you pay nothing if we do not succeed in getting the compensation claim from the airline – you have nothing to lose. If we succeed in getting the compensation from the airline, we charge a fee of 39.75%.
What should you do if your flight is delayed or cancelled?
Start by contacting the airline and ask why the flight is delayed or cancelled. If the flight is cancelled, find out how they plan to solve the situation. Make sure they pay for any necessary food due to the delay and demand a hotel room if you need to stay overnight.
Save receipts for any expenses, as well as boarding passes, and be careful to not accept any on-site offers they may try to give you, as these are often much worse than what you are entitled to. This may mean that you no longer have the right to claim additional compensation.
If your flight is more than 5 hours delayed, you can cancel your trip and still claim compensation.
Once you have returned home, send us an email and we will ensure that you receive maximum compensation.
Depending on when you were informed of the cancelled flight and what the cause was, you may be entitled to compensation.
One prerequisite for claiming compensation is that the airline has notified you of the cancelled flight less than seven days before the scheduled departure. Another prerequisite is that you arrive two hours later than scheduled arrival. If the airline notified you of the change less than two weeks before departure and you arrive more than four hours later at your final destination.
The airline has the option to reduce your compensation by 50% if you are rebooked and arrive within the following time frames:
less than 4 hours after the expected arrival time on a flight over 3,500 km outside the EU
less than 3 hours after the expected arrival time on a flight between 1,500 and 3,500 km or within the EU
less than 2 hours after the expected arrival time on a flight under 1,500 km
As a passenger, you have the right to claim compensation if your flight is delayed and you are traveling to or from one of the EU regulation member states. The right to compensation is described in EU regulation 261/2004. The regulation ensures that you as a passenger have the same rights, regardless of which airline you are flying with.

How much compensation can one expect for a flight delay?
You are entitled to compensation if the flight is delayed for more than 3 hours (to your final destination). If the delay or cancellation of the flight is due to extraordinary circumstances (such as weather, strikes or closed airports), you may not be entitled to compensation.
According to EU rules, you should be able to receive compensation of up to €600.
€250 for flights shorter than 1500 km, €400 for trips within the EU longer than 1500 km, and €600 for others.
* So it can be worth it even if your flight ticket was cheap.
