OM OSS VAJPER - VINNARE AV DAGENS INDUSTRIS DIGITALA GASELL
WINNER OF DAGENS INDUSTRI'S DIGITAL GAZELLE
For 13 years, Dagens Industri has named the Gasell companies, Sweden's fastest growing businesses. This year, a new category was added, the Digital Gasell. When the award was presented at the annual Gasell gala, it went to the Västerås-based company Vajper, which has increased its growth and reached new customer groups and markets through its investment in e-commerce.
The prize was awarded in collaboration with Google and the background to the new prize is the realization that the Internet has become an extremely important factor for Swedish companies' growth and success.
The family business Vajper, which is one of the country's oldest bag and glove store chains, became the first-ever winner of the prize with the motivation:
"The winner of Sweden's Digital Gazelle 2012 has been in business for over 80 years and has gone from one store to several. Their move onto the internet happened in 2008 and since then, online sales have grown to account for half of their revenue. And their ambition for the future is great. In a time when 7 out of 10 Swedes shop online, the winner has exemplified how and where to best find, reach, and capture both existing and new customer groups. They are simply a great source of inspiration for how to make the leap from offline to online!"
Andreas Wahlsten of Vajper was happy about the award and commented as follows:
"We realized quite early on that there is a geographical limitation to only having physical stores. With a focus on online sales and online marketing, we simply reach more people, both in Sweden and around the world. The internet has been a decisive factor for us and will undoubtedly be our growth engine in the future. Today, our range includes thousands of different travel bags, for example."
